Meet Our Team

Wendy Dwan (she/her/hers)

Are you or a loved one struggling to heal from a major change or event that happened? Trauma disrupts our relationships, our view on life, takes away our ability to eat and sleep, creates reactivity, and can make it so difficult to show up for life in general. If your family is having a difficult time healing, we can help!

Growing up in a military family, I moved around frequently and spent most of my adolescence overseas. These experiences gave me a unique outlook on the world and a special ability to connect with people easily. Living abroad taught me a lot about myself and how I fit into the world I exist in. Having my own history of trauma and mental health issues is what led me into this field in the first place, and gives me the gift not only of empathy but of understanding.

Currently, my primary focus is working with children and adolescents; helping them to reprocess trauma and improve their interpersonal relationships as well as help them develop a healthier relationship with themselves. Helping children and teens learn who they are and learning to love themselves is a bright spot in my profession.  My approach is trauma-informed and strength-based. In a person-centered therapeutic setting, I strive to help individuals increase their resilience by processing their trauma and re-writing the narrative of their negative belief system; replacing it with a sense of empowerment and resourcefulness.

I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s of Applied Sciences in Human Services. I was a member of the Tau Sigma Honor’s Society.  I graduated Cum Laude from Grand Canyon University with a Master’s of Science in Professional Counseling. I am a Licensed Associate Counselor and have been working in the behavioral health field since 2011. I am trained in DBT, CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT and EMDR. I have experience working with LGBTQ youth and facilitated an educational curriculum that focused on sexual health, development, and peer pressure. I have worked with individuals with Developmental Delays, Serious Mental Illness, Suicidal/Homicidal Ideation, Self Harm, and many more populations in inpatient and outpatient settings. I love spending time with my family, our cats and dogs, watching movies, and playing Zelda in my free time. I am a yogi, hiker, an animal lover, and active in my own recovery.

If you or your loved one are struggling, I am proud of you for looking into therapeutic support! I hope to facilitate a safe healing space for you or your family’s journey to emotional recovery and wellness.  I hope to facilitate a safe healing space for you or your family’s journey to emotional recovery and wellness.
