Meet Our Team

Akilah Vogt (she/her/hers)

I discovered acupuncture in my early twenties after suffering intense and unrelenting pain caused by a back injury. I was desperate for relief and had already exhausted all options that Western medicine had to offer short of surgery. I tried acupuncture on a whim, I actually thought it sounded pretty weird. Acupuncture ended up not only easing my pain, allowing me to finally sleep through the night and recover a sense of normalcy but also inspired me to make other lifestyle changes that dramatically changed my life for the better. So much so that I decided to make it my career.

I earned my Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2011 and became nationally board-certified shortly after. I then began working in a busy community clinic where I had the honor of giving thousands of acupuncture treatments for just about any condition you can think of. Over time I have uncovered a passion for treating pregnancy, gynecological health conditions, helping people to manage their stress and anxiety as well as caring for kids. I love seeing the positive ripple effect that helping one family member feel better can have on the entire family.

I have undertaken advanced training in the treatment of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, and love offering support to new parents throughout their parenting journey. I am also taking part in an international training program in pediatric care, taking a deep dive into treating infants, children, and teens. I am excited to deepen my knowledge in helping our youngest family members thrive.

I have often been described as having a very gentle and soft touch. Often my patients are surprised that I have already started needling since they felt nothing. I use the time tested method of pattern identification to discover and treat imbalances in the body.

In addition to acupuncture, I like to use:

Moxibustion: the therapeutic heating of acupuncture points with smoldering mugwort herb.

Cupping: plastic round or heart-shaped cups are applied to the skin with suction to relieve muscular tension and other conditions.

Ear seeding: a tiny seed with an adhesive backing is pressed on a specific acupuncture point either on the body or the ear. This very gently stimulates the point.

I look forward to supporting you and your family on your journey toward health.
